The Back Story...
Rick and Alexa Olson have had an exciting and varied ministry in several locations and in different areas. After marrying July 18th, 1970 in Albion, Michigan, the Olson's set up residence in Houston, Texas where Pastor Rick Olson was raised. Pastor Rick was in San Jacinto College studying to be a Certified Public Accountant. Pastor Rick had felt his call to the ministry years before, and after much soul searching, enrolled in Texas Bible College. While in school, the Olson's were working hard in Pastor Olson's home church, Gulfgate Pentecostal Church, where Rev. F. D. Olson, Pastor's father was the Pastor. The Olson's served in Music, Youth, Outreach and many other areas of ministry during this time. The Olson's served for a time in Albion, Michigan where Pastor Alexa's father, Rev. William R. Starr was Pastor.
In 1976 the Olson's experienced a dramatic call from God to go to Philadelphia, PA to start a new work. The Olson's taught many bible studies, held home meetings and saw many souls saved. They established a church "Evangelistic Temple", on the Northeast side of Philadelphia. This was a very adventurous and valuable time in the ministry lives of the Olsons.

How it all started...
In February 1984, we felt the call of God to launch a new church in Jacksonville, FL. On March 24, 1984, our first service was held in a small building on Beach Boulevard. Over the next 5 years the church grew to 75 people – we needed more space.
And continued....
In 1988, we were able to purchase property here at 8709 Hogan Road and build a beautiful church seating 250. We grew again over the next 15 years, and the adjacent property was purchased.
Where we are now...
In 2010, Church of Pentecost moved into this beautiful 800-seat worship facility. And 10 years later we have paid this building off and are debt free due to the generous giving of our church family.
